Southern California offers many enjoyable and fan favorite distractions from #KawhiWatch. The Dodgers are enjoying a start that puts them 27 games over .500 with a recent stretch of five consecutive walk-off wins.
Cody Bellinger can even be spoken in the same breath as Hall of Fame Legend Willie Mays as the only two players under the age of 25 to have hit 30+ homers before the All-Star break since MLB Expansion.
Even though I grew up with Dodgers of late 70's and early 80's--Garvey, Cey, Lopes, Russell, Baker, etc--which seemingly played the Yankees every October, I admit these modern day Dodgers are exciting and exhilirating to watch.
After seemingly a dead period of elite sports to watch (I have paid great attention to NBA Free Agency and even attended my first high-school passing league tournament recently), I am ready to geek it out this weekend with Women World Cup Soccer (go USA!), Wimbledon, and the Tour de France (my favorite since I took up cycling about a decade ago).
Even though Kawhi is not officially a Laker, being a fan in Los Angeles is nothing to be ashamed of...we have the Dodgers as well as so many ways to show our patriotism after such a glorious Independence Day yesterday with events like Wimbledon (go 15-year-old American Coco Gauff!) and the women's World Cup Final (go USA!)
Yet, I am going across the pond to take a look not at Wimbledon but the Tour de France.
